Trial GP Round 2 - Portugal: Update from Billy Green 🇵🇹

Trial GP Round 2 - Portugal: Update from Billy Green 🇵🇹

Going into round 2 of the world championship I felt a little bit of pressure as I was leading the championship, however I went in with the same mindset that it was my own trial and I’d take it section by section. Rain on Friday made already technical sections look hard but the granite rocks similar to what I ride at home did give me some confidence.

Saturday started okay on the first race finishing 4th even with an unfortunate 5 due to the observer messing up the time in section 10. Race two wasn’t my best performance, as the sections got slippier I lost confidence and feeling with the bike, made a few too many mistakes and finished 10th. This 4-10 scores landed me in 5th for the overall standings on Saturday.

After making a few changes to the bike Saturday evening I felt good to go again Sunday. The sun was drying the sections nicely which gave me confidence, race one I only made a couple of little mistakes and finished 3rd. The second race I was hitting most of my marks and felt good. I drew on points with first to only lose out on overall lap time by 40 seconds. 3-2 scores placed me in 3rd overall for Sunday, annoyingly if I had won the second race I’d have won the overall! Unfortunately that’s part of the game.

I’m now 2nd in the championship heading into the 3rd round in Japan, May 17th-18th. My next event is X-Trial Tallinn, Estonia on 26th April.

As always thanks for your support, Billy
